We are seeking a dynamic Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) who is passionate about innovative dementia programming, staff development, and clinical excellence to help lead our 40-bed skilled nursing community.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:    

  • In the absence of the Chief Nursing Officer, the ADON serves as a clinical leader and operational backup.
  • Serves as a member of the Clinical Leadership Team and the General Leadership Team.
  • Performs direct supervision of staff, including making recommendations for education, training, and disciplinary action.
  • Conducts nursing rounds several times a day in all levels of care to ensure proper care and a safe, clean resident environment.
  • Facilitates antibiotic stewardship and falls program meetings and prepares reports related to infection control, falls, and antibiotic use.
  • Coordinates the Infection prevention and control & antibiotic stewardship programs for Holbrook. Acts as infection preventionist nurse and assures compliance with education, regulatory, and reporting requirements.
  • Provides mandatory training, coaching, and development for employees, including new hire orientation for all clinical staff.
  • Ensures new Health Center employees receive competency-based training and skills validation.
  • Coordinates and may facilitate in-service education and continuous competency-based training for clinical staff.
  • Facilitates dementia and person-centered care training programs.
  • Coordinates with Learning and Development Specialist to maintain accurate training records in employee personnel files.
  • Participates in QA, Risk Management, and UR meetings; completes audits and reports related to infection control, safety, and pharmacy.
  • Rotates administrative call coverage or Manager-on-Duty with other leadership members – typically once a month or every other month.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have current RN license in the State of Maine with at least 5-7 years of experience as a licensed nurse. Experience working with older adults preferred.
  • Demonstrated passion for dementia care innovation and staff education
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience required.
  • Must have completed the Infection Preventionist Training Program or complete program within 6 months of hire.
  • Proven ability to facilitate adult learning in a small group setting preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills including verbal and written, presentation skills, ability to connect with a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills and ability to exercise sound judgment.
  • Proficient with technology including Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn new technologies.
  • Current CPR certification or ability to obtain prior to employment required.
