SCOPE OF POSITION: The Temporary Float Unit Manager supports Unit Managers on tasks assigned by the Director of Nursing, while supervising and coordinating activities of nursing personnel on all units to ensure consistent quality care is provided to all residents/clients. The Unit Manager also promotes and restores residents’ health by developing day-to-day management and long-term planning of their care needs, directing and developing staff, collaborating with physicians/multidisciplinary professionals, and providing physical and psychological support for residents/clients.

Upon the reopening of the currently inactive unit, the individual serving as temporary float Unit Manager will transition into a full-time, regular Unit Manager role, with assigned responsibilities specific to that unit.

We are committed to providing preventative and restorative care to all residents and clients here at Rockingham County. We want our residents to feel safe, comfortable, and supported in all aspects of their lives to include not only physical, but also emotional, social, spiritual, environmental, and intellectual well-being. The temporary float Unit Manager is a vital part of our cohesive team that supervises all licensed and non-licensed personnel who provide health care and nursing services on all units, including assisting in staff development, scheduling, participating in new hire orientation + quality improvements, and providing guidance/support/feedback to staff. Through promoting facility policies, procedures, and standards, the Unit Manager assesses care requirements, makes rounds, provides direct nursing care, optimizes nursing supply inventory, and contacts physicians and/or the APRN to address any immediate medical concerns. This position also attends mandatory meetings and investigates any suspected abuse and/or neglect, prepares written reports, and notifies the Senior Director of Long Term Care Services. Further, the Unit Manager follows up on all admissions by ensuring physician notes have been completed, including verification by MD, all required scripts have been obtained, and all orders are entered into EMAR. Must be able to work hours as scheduled based on the requirements of the position and facility.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Must possess and maintain a current, valid, unencumbered New Hampshire RN or LPN license.
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing College or University with a current licensure by the State of New Hampshire; and
  • Minimum of three (3) years full-time or equivalent experience in a Long Term/Acute Care setting.
  • An equivalent combination of work and experience will be considered. 
  • CPR/Basic Life Support (BLS) certified.
